Trustee roles are open to women only*. They are voluntary with paid expenses. You are eligible to apply if you are over the age of 18.
*This post is open to female applicants only as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010
Benefits
- Comprehensive induction and training;
- Shape the future of RISE - influence strategy, governance and policy for a leading domestic abuse charity.
- Develop leadership skills - gain experience in charity governance, financial oversight and strategic planning.
Skills
Are you a feminist leader with experience in any of these sectors: public sector; private sector; youth/student societies or organisations; commercial or charitable organisations? We also welcome interest from those with direct experience of domestic violence and/or abuse. The Board is currently looking for more expertise in HR, finance and property development/management - but lack of these areas of expertise should not deter applicants qualified in other ways or committed to our cause.
Our Board members come from all walks of life and bring a passion for ending violence and abuse against women, children, and LGBT people. We are keen to ensure greater diversity on our Board and welcome applications from a wide range of women who would help us better reflect and serve our potential and current service users.
When do I need to be available?
| Details | The RISE Board meets around five times a year on a Saturday for three to five hours. Board members attend at least one subcommittee that usually meet in the evening for up to two hours between each Board meeting. Trustees occasionally attend meetings and events with the CEO or members of RISE Staff. There is an annual Board Development Day and a Board Strategy Day both on a Saturday and an annual RISE Day (all staff, volunteers and Board) as well as quarterly staff meetings. Trustees are encouraged to attend RISE staff meetings when they can. It is estimated that Trustees will need to be available for around two days a month although this will vary. |
