This role involves taking the lead on initiating, organising and facilitating fundraising events as a member of the team linked to the RNLI Lifeboat located at Brighton Marina. An experienced and enthusiastic person is needed to establish a portfolio of sustainable fundraising events in the Brighton and Hove area, targeting both individual and corporate donations. This will include activities as part of national campaigns such as the annual Mayday and local events such as quiz and fish supper evenings, coffee mornings, and supermarket collections. Gaining the support of local businesses and organisations will be an important part of the role. The Coordinator will be supported by a Group Leader, a small team of fundraisers, the social media team and will have access to RNLI resources. The Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the success of events through having in place resources, volunteers and, where necessary, local authority permissions. 

Skills

  • Successful experience in fundraising events or activities
  • Strong planning and organising skills, including the ability meet deadlines and to lead a team of volunteers and service providers as needed
  • Ability to develop and manage event budgets
  • Ability to connect and communicate with others to generate enthusiasm and commitment to the work of RNLI
  • Ability to undertake risk assessments and put in place any necessary risk mitigation measures.

Practical Considerations


  • Events may take place at the Lifeboat Station at the Marina, or other venues in the city
  • Training to fulfil your volunteer role will be provided and reasonable out of pocket expenses reimbursed.
