Car owner/driver volunteers

Tower House Community Centre host two social clubs each week for older people in Brighton & Hove.  Our clubs help prevent loneliness and isolation for the older people that join us.  Club members join us for activities,  a hot cooked meal, and have time for socialising and making friends.

Our Centre is situated near Preston Park in Brighton, which is where our minibus catchment area is. 

However, we know some older people would like to join us from other areas in Brighton & Hove  and we would like to help them to get to us, so that we can improve their wellbeing too.

To this end, we seek car owner/drivers in the following areas:

• Portslade
• Hove
• Southwick.

This role would be to provide a lift to one, two or three older people to enable them to attend our clubs on Mondays or Thursdays.  The older people would need to be at Tower House by 10.30, and then would need a return journey from 1.30.

Skills

• Car owner/driver
• Clean driving licence  
• Health of driver must comply with DVLA expectations
• Willing to undertake a DBS check (we will provide this at no cost)
• Reliable 
• Friendly and understanding with good listening skills
• Professional and capable
• Able to adhere to policies such as lone working, safeguarding, health & safety etc
• Ability to work independently.

Practical Considerations

• Vehicle must be in a good condition and up to date on servicing and MOT
• Owner/driver must have business insurance included on their motor insurance policy (this is often provided by your insurer for free or at very low cost)
• Hours of role are likely to be Mondays 9-10.30 and then again 1.30-3 or Thursdays 9-10.30 and then again 1.30-3.  This role could be a job share, although for continuity we would prefer that drivers join us for both the pick up and return journeys on each day.

When do I need to be available?

Details	Either a Monday or a Thursday morning and early afternoon We also have a shorter club session on a Wednesday afternoon
