Carer Groups Volunteer Group Assistant | Upper Beeding

The Assistant will join and support the facilitation of the group alongside the Facilitator, ensuring a warm welcome to those that wish to join us. We want to create a safe environment for people to be able to talk about their caring roles when they feel comfortable to do so.

The Assistant will achieve this by actively listening and responding to issues and concerns raised by the carer if able to do so.

They will feedback to the Facilitator after the group, including any concerns for the carer or further action required.

Skills

Skills and Attributes Required:

• Facilitation of Meetings: Organise and lead carer group sessions, ensuring they start and end on time, prepare and serve tea | coffee and refreshments.

• Support: Provide emotional support and guidance to group members. Specifically, caring for someone that may have an addiction.

• Resource Sharing: Share relevant resources and information with group members.

• Record Keeping: Maintain attendance records and note any significant issues that arise during meetings | Upload receipts for expenses incurred.

• Confidentiality: Ensure all discussions within the group remain confidential.

• Check-ins: Attend regular check-ins with a Volunteer Mentor.

Practical Considerations

The role is partly home based and you will need:

·        Access to a computer or laptop to attend meetings and training

·        Wifi access within your home

When do I need to be available?

Details	Timings and commitment: The second Tuesday of each month. 10:30 – 12:00. To arrive 15 minute early.
