*** The Children's Parade takes place on the morning of Saturday 2nd May 2026***
This year will mark our 40th Brighton Festival Children’s Parade. The annual Children’s Parade is a joyous, loud, disruptive, and memorable procession that takes place on the first Saturday of May to officially launch Brighton Festival.
In celebration of the National Year of Reading 2026, 55 different schools and over 4000 participants will join this year’s parade, bringing children’s books to life with their show-stopping designs and self-made costumes.
We need a dedicated group of volunteers to help steward our road closures and ensure the parade runs smoothly. Your roles will include chatting with drivers, signposting parade walkers, and directing audiences around the parade.
Benefits
- Be part of one of Brighton's most joyful traditions.
- Help to keep the parade walkers and audiences safe.
- Meet other like-minded volunteers and join the SameSky community! Why not bring a friend along?
Practical Considerations
We will need you to be at the rally point for your briefing at 8am and we will all be meeting for chips at 3pm once the parade is over.
Please dress for the weather on the day, bring a rain coat, a bottle of water and some sun screen, this is Brighton after all!
Support Disabled

No experience needed! We provide a safety and information briefing and any equipment you may need for your role.
