Gladrags is a charity run mainly by volunteers, and you can be part of our dedicated team!
We are currently recruiting Front of House Assistants to our team of volunteers.
Skills
Front of House volunteering includes taking photos on a tablet and checking those off as well as helping to put items away in the store. You will be meeting customers and other volunteers as we are a small team, so it would be helpful if you enjoy communicating with people.
Mending, sewing, ironing and steaming are very welcome skills and we offer training.
Tasks include assisting with: costume hire; costume care, costume repair and restoration; inventory and labelling; storage work.
Other positions that may be available and cross over.
Costume Styling Assistant if you are interested in costume styling and in gaining experience.
Vintage and Recycling: assessing and sorting donated vintage clothing, fabrics and costumes for giving away or for sale.
Community Outreach: helping us to run family dress-up and textile craft activities, reminiscence sessions with older people and sewing skills workshops.
Business Admin: helping us with the systems involved in hiring out costumes

Practical Considerations
Gladrags is in an industrial unit in a basement in Moulsecoomb. Buses stop very near by at Moulsecoomb Way. Our address is Unit 10, Westergate Business Centre, Westergate Road, Moulsecoomb Way, Brighton BN24QN.
The Gladrags store is open on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10am and 6pm.
We are able to cover standard travel expenses (up to £5.30) and all volunteers are fully insured whilst working with us. We offer support and supervision as required, and additional training opportunities, including sewing skills development.
When do I need to be available?
Details | We ask volunteers to work a minimum of 4-5 hrs a week and up to 3 days a week. For work placements or internships we are able to make further arrangements. |
