Volunteer with us at Tower House Community Centre at the start of a new project to create and co-host fortnightly informal, friendly and supportive peer support groups for people living with Dementia and their family/friend carers.  The role will involve setting up the environment, welcoming and involving all members, chatting and discussing information from our 'taught' sessions that run alongside this informal group.  Listening to group members, showing empathy and making a good cuppa will all be important!  Work with a friendly small group of other specialist volunteers supporting people at this challenging time of life.

  • Buses are numbers 5/5a to Varndean Rd
  • Preston Park station is in the next street and is a 10 min walk
  • Parking is available on site.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Great listening skills
  • An empathetic and understanding nature
  • An understanding of Dementia
  • An ability to co-facilitate a small informal group, ensuring inclusivity
  • Ability to share information in different ways
  • A background in a social care/health role would be advantageous
  • Committed and reliable.

When do I need to be available?

Details Our peer support group schedule is not yet confirmed, but may include some Saturday working to suit our beneficiaries, some of which may have M-F work commitments themselves. Please enquire in the first instance to obtain more up to date information, thank you.
