Brighton and Hove Music for Connection (BHMC) is a specialist community service, offering opportunities for people and communities to connect through music making. We run a varied programme of listening and soundmaking activities, open to people across the City.
We are a small dynamic organisation, a social enterprise (a Community Interest Company) and are looking for new volunteer Directors to join us to help with setting the strategic direction and over-seeing the day to day running of the organisation.
Benefits
Learning about the role of community music in Brighton and Hove, attending events and working with a committed and experienced team.
Practical Considerations
2 hour monthly meetings in central Brighton which are accessible via public transport.
Skills
We are seeking Directors who have the time and capacity to play an active role in the work of BHMC and who may have skills in one or more of these areas:
- Marketing and promotion
- Financial management
- Organisational development
- Maximising the benefits of being a CIC
New Directors will be supported to learn about Brighton and Hove Music for Connection and will be encouraged to attend music-making workshops.
Directors are required to attend a monthly governance meeting (currently held in central Brighton on a Tuesday afternoon) and to play an active role as part of the small BHMC team. However, the daily running of the organisation is undertaken by the Programme Managers, Administrator and Book-keeper.
We would love to hear from you and are very happy to discuss what we are looking for in more detail. To arrange an informal chat about the role with one of our current Directors, Esther Gill, or for more information on how to apply, please email: directors@musicforconnection.c
