This role involves supporting our welfare volunteers to get cats to vet appointments, waiting with the cat at the vets and returning the cat to their foster carer. You will usually be accompanied to the vets by a welfare volunteer, or where appropriate met at the vets by the welfare volunteer.

Additionally, we may ask our volunteer drivers to support with collection of food donations, distribution of food to foster carers, or distribution of other cat supplies.

Benefits

  • Helping cats on their road to recovery.
  • Being part of a team of like-minded people.
  • Seeing first hand the generosity of the local cat community and helping to distribute their donations.
  • knowing hungry cats will get some food.
  • Be involved in helping cats in need.
  • Meet other cat lovers and be part of a close team of volunteers.
  • Expenses paid.

Practical Considerations

This role is an ad-hoc role, requests are made for help from a driver at a particular time, and if the volunteer is available they confirm they can help.

Vet appointments are usually during the working week, so we are particularly looking for volunteers who have time to help get cats to the vets from Monday - Friday.

Please note, Lost Cats Brighton does not provide motor insurance for volunteers using their own vehicles. Volunteers are advised to inform their insurer that they may use their vehicle for travel related to their volunteering.

Skills

Availability required during the working week and just a love of cats required!

When do I need to be available?

Details As the majority of requests are for help to get a cat from the foster carer's home to the vets and back, most driver requests are made for times during the working week.
