With more than 470 current members, The Shoreham Society is an independent voice for all who care about the town of Shoreham-by-Sea. Its remit covers planning, conservation, development and environmental issues.

The Society currently offers a programme of monthly Talks. We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and enthusiastic Events Co-ordinator to plan, manage, and deliver these Talks, together with a variety of other events that support our mission and engage our members. 

Your duties will be to: 

  • Liaise with other members of the Executive Committee to create the Events Calendar and agree an annual budget
  • Identify and on-board speakers for the Talks
  • Manage the hire of venues, volunteer helpers and equipment for the Talks [currently St Peters church hall], and introduce the guest speaker
  • Propose and manage other events, for example community fairs and conferences where The Society takes a stand.
  • Become a member of The Shoreham Society Executive Committee. 

Skills

The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator with excellent planning skills and a passion for making a difference. Experience of event management would be an advantage but training will be given, and you will be supported by a team of volunteers.

Practical Considerations

When do I need to be available?

Details Talks currently take place on the third Friday of the month but this can be negotiated. Occasional weekend work at events will be required.
