This voluntary role provides vital support to our Head of Finance & Operations by enhancing process efficiency, overseeing weekly reporting, and streamlining processes. Initially based at our Head Office, with the potential to work remotely once established, this role will contribute to robust financial management and continuous improvement within our small but mighty Finance department!   

  • Support our Head of Finance & Ops with a variety of tasks relating to process efficiency, reporting, data entry and data analysis  
  • Analyse weekly donations received via our website and online giving platforms  
  • Oversee and coordinate documentation for Gift Aid claims  
  • Digitalise files and design paperless processes for Purchase Ledger invoices  
  • Help to develop a Financial Procedures Manual  
  • Support with budget preparation, analysis and reporting   
  • Review our operational policies and employee training matrix, suggesting additions and improvements.

Practical Considerations

As our new Finance & Operations Support Volunteer, you’ll work from our headquarters in central Brighton, whilst you get used to our systems and establish a rapport with the team. We’re looking for someone who can offer regular support, preferably on the same day each week (though we understand the need to flex things up sometimes to fit in with other commitments).   

Volunteer roles with Rockinghorse are unpaid, though reasonable expenses will be reimbursed upon request.

Skills

Finance & Operations Support Volunteers:  

  • Have 2+ years of proven office experience  
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Are confident with systems and technology  
  • Are confident to work autonomously and as part of a team  
  • Are willing and able to work from our office in central Brighton.      

When do I need to be available?
