The key responsibility of this role is to support Wandering Emotions in securing funding by identifying and applying for suitable grant opportunities. This includes researching relevant funders, tracking application deadlines, and maintaining an organised pipeline of opportunities.
Working closely with the Director and wider team, you will help develop high-quality, persuasive grant applications by clearly communicating the organisation’s projects, outcomes, and impact. You will also contribute to shaping a consistent funding narrative, ensuring that messaging across applications is clear, compelling, and aligned with the organisation’s mission.
This role sits within a small, collaborative team, where you will work both independently and alongside others. Priorities include identifying the most relevant funding opportunities, supporting the development of strong applications, and ensuring submissions are completed to a high standard and on time.
Benefits
- Gain practical experience in grant funding, bid writing, and fundraising strategy. Contribute directly to live funding applications, giving you tangible examples of your writing, research, and impact to showcase in future job or academic applications.
- Play a vital role in securing funding that enables Wandering Emotions to continue and grow, directly contributing to our sustainability and reach.
- This is a fully remote role, allowing you to contribute from anywhere and fit your volunteering around study, work, or other commitments.
Practical Considerations
This is a remote role, so there is no requirement to travel.
Skills
We are looking for a volunteer who has experience or a strong understanding of grant applications and bid writing, with the ability to identify suitable funding opportunities and support the development of compelling proposals. Strong written communication skills and attention to detail are essential, as the role involves producing clear, persuasive content tailored to different funders.
Our ideal volunteer is organised, proactive, and able to manage deadlines effectively. They should feel comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with the Director and wider team.
Experience within the voluntary or community sector would be beneficial, particularly an understanding of how to communicate impact in areas such as mental health and community support. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is motivated to make a difference and can contribute to strengthening our funding opportunities through high-quality applications.
When do I need to be available?
| Details | The role offers flexible hours, allowing volunteers to work at times that suit their schedule. However, some flexibility is required around key grant deadlines, where specific tasks may need to be prioritised to ensure applications are completed and submitted on time. |
