Job Club and Digital Inclusion volunteer
On Your Way Job Club and Digital Inclusion
On Your Way Job Club and Digital Inclusion is run by and for local residents in Moulsecoomb and Bevendean. We provide on-the-spot advice at weekly drop-in sessions focused on finding work and training, digital inclusion, benefits and emergency help, adapted to the needs of those who use us. Our drop-ins run in community venues: Moulsecoomb Library, Bevendean Food Bank & Café and the Bevy. We run three drop-ins per week and provide follow-up support between sessions.
We are seeking volunteers to help at the drop-ins and with ongoing personalised support for our clients.
Some of the regular tasks we need help with are:
• Meeting clients at our drop-in sessions on Mondays
• Typing up CVs and job application letters
• Helping clients with online job searching
• Helping clients gain confidence in using the internet
• Installing virus protection on clients’ devices, advising about online safety
• Recording accurate monitoring data
• Delivering documents to clients between drop-in
Skills
Please get in touch for a chat if you are:
• A good listener, who can help people develop the confidence to get back into work
• Someone with basic computer skills, who can type up and lay out clear and attractive CVs
• Efficient and competent, able to use our existing monitoring systems
• Interested in event organisation, and willing to help with our annual community Job Fair
If you live in Moulsecoomb or Bevendean that is a bonus, but it is not essential.
You do not need to have experience in this type of work, but you do need to be able to listen and show understanding.
