At Grace Eyre in Sussex, we provide high-quality support at home and in the community, inspiring and educational activities, help with training, employment and independent travel, and access to good quality housing for people with a learning disability and/or autistic people.

Our vision is for a society where people with a learning disability and autistic people can fulfil their dreams and wishes, are respected as equal citizens, and are part of, and contribute to their communities.

We are looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help guide, protect and strengthen our organisation. We want people who believe in inclusion, choice and empowering others.

Benefits

  1. Make a real difference in people’s lives.

  2. Gain governance and leadership experience.

  3. Expand your professional network and influence.

Practical Considerations

The meetings are held in person in our Brighton office, parking is available upon request.

Support

We welcome Trustees with lived experience; we provide pre-briefs and debriefs for:
  •  Board Meetings
  •  Committee Meetings
  •  Trustee Away Days.

The latter offer an opportunity to prepare for and reflect on the topics of the meeting.

As well as to feedback on how accessible these meetings were and what can be done differently next time, we have Jargon Buster Cards. When Trustees raise these cards, it informs the person talking that they need to use more accessible language. This supports meaningful inclusion and full participation for all Trustees.

Skills

We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in:

  • Legal
  • Local authority
  • Social care.
