Are you passionate about creating safe and supportive environments for young women? We're seeking a committed and driven individual to join our Board of Trustees as our Lead Trustee for Safeguarding.

As our Lead Trustee for Safeguarding, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the young women we support. At Flourish, we provide therapeutically-matched one to one mentoring and bespoke workshop programmes for the young women of Brighton and Hove; this is a brilliant opportunity to contribute your expertise in safeguarding practices and support our charity's mission.


  • Ability to commit up to three hours a week to the Lead Trustee for Safeguarding role - largely virtual, with occasional in-person activities.
  • Experience in safeguarding, child protection, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations governing charity safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dedication to the wellbeing of young women.
  • Commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, building trust and rapport.
  • Alignment to Flourish's values of co-creation, playfulness, inclusivity, kindness and empowerment.


  • Experience in charity governance.
  • Opportunity to get involved with wellbeing mentoring and workshop design and delivery.
  • Engagement with a supportive Board and community of mentors.

Practical Considerations

  • Up to three hours per week of online and in-person activities.
  • Quarterly two-hour Board meetings, usually face to face.
