Macmillan Project Support Volunteer
Citizens Advice in West Sussex (North, South, East)
You will work with one of our benefit specialists and support with casework from making benefit applications, gathering evidence to support appeals and applying for grants and health costs. This role is perfect for someone with previous case management experience or who wants to develop a career in law, social care or other areas of advice.
The role will involve:
• Supporting caseworkers to manage post, email and communication from clients, their health professionals or the DWP
• Helping with some applications such as grants, blue badges
• Drafting advice letters and follow up with the DWP and other third parties
• Updating case records with outcomes and progress being made
Skills
As a Macmillan Project Support Volunteer, you need to have:
• Excellent communication and organisation skills
• Able to follow processes
• Good IT skills so you can use Word, Excel and receive training on our case management system
• Empathy for the needs of cancer patients and a commitment to our equity, diversity and inclusion principles

Our Shoreham Centre is based at The Shoreham Centre, Pond Road with parking available.
When do I need to be available?
Details | These positions are available any day of the working week, from 09:30 ideally for either half a day or a full day - volunteering hours can be flexible but preferably on the same day each week. |
