The Hangleton and Knoll Project
ABOUT US.
We offer peer support in a friendly group setting. We aim to meet the needs of those living with dementia, memory loss and their Carers in the West of the City. We have a needs-led approach with a focus on social connection and mutual support, with signposting to information, services and advice. We offer a variety of table top games and creative activities for fun and cognitive stimulation.
Duties would include:
• Supporting monthly meetings on Monday afternoons
• Helping with the physical set up which includes: lifting and moving tables, chairs, and resources for the session.
• Supporting conversations and activities with group participants.
• Helping with any paperwork and serving refreshments.
• Time commitment - Monthly, 3 hours per session, 1.30- 4.30pm.
• Dates for 2026: 2nd March, 11th May, 1st June, 6th July, 3rd August, 5th October, 2nd November, and 7th December

Practical Considerations
- Buses: Numbers 16 and 47 or 2 (Stapley Road) stop, 10-15 minutes walk from Portslade Train station.

Do you have skills and experience of supporting older people? Would you like to get more involved in the local community? Do you have free time to volunteer on a monthly basis? Do you enjoy working as part of a team?
- Experience of supporting older people.
- Physically able to lift and move tables, chairs and resources for the sessions.
- Supportive - friendly, patient, welcoming and encouraging.
- Good communication skills - at ease with supporting conversations and activities.
- Flexible approach - willing to serve refreshments, clear away, help with paperwork and other adhoc tasks as required.
- Motivated to make a difference to people's lives
- Good team worker and happy to take instruction and supervision as required.
