Tower House is a Community Centre that specialises in supporting people over the age of 50.  The services we offer, along with those of our partners help alleviate loneliness and prevent isolation for the older people of Brighton and Hove.

Each year, our Centre needs to raise a significant sum of monies to maintain our service levels and premises and equipment in order that we can continue to offer valuable support to our club members.

We are seeking to build a small team of people who can help us look for funding opportunities by searching for these online.  This role can extend further for those that would then like to participate in friendly monthly funding meetings and who might like to offer help with the application process etc..

These is a key role within the team, supporting a much loved and needed community resource for the benefit of some of the most vulnerable people in our city.

Skills

  • Strong internet skills with the ability to search for funding opportunities such as grants/trusts/foundations offering support to charities that support older people in the UK
  • Can live anywhere in the world to help in this role (if working remotely)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good understanding of written English
  • The ability to keep up to date records
  • The ability to work as part of a small team
  • An understanding of the needs of older people
  • Not essential, but helpful - application writing skills, budgeting skills/knowledge, case study writing skills.

Practical Considerations

  • Volunteers can work online and meet up online (or in person at the Centre if preferred) 
  • Parking is available on site if volunteers wanted to work from the Centre, and the centre is on bus routes 5/5a, and in the adjacent street to Preston Park train station
  • Volunteers can use their own IT equipment at home, or use the Centre's equipment to undertake the role on site if preferred
  • Coffee shop onsite.

When do I need to be available?

Details Volunteers can undertake this role in their own time, to suit their needs. Feedback and team updates would need to be shared within M-F 9-4. Meetings would also occur (whether online or in person) within M-F 9-4.
