We're looking for people interested in bike mechanics to help people to repair their cycles or fix up second-hand bikes donated by members of the public at our new community bike workshop in Portslade.

The time commitment would be a 3-5 hour shift every week or fortnight (this can be flexible).

Brighton Bike Hub is a non-profit that aims to help everybody access cycling by running adult cycle training, a drop-in bike repair workshop, selling affordable second-hand bikes and parts, and running group cycle rides. We always need more volunteers at our three workshop locations in Brighton to help fix up bikes.

No experience is necessary as training and support will be provided.

Skills

There are no previous skills or experience necessary, apart from a willingness to interact with the public and an interest in learning about bicycles and bike repairs.

Benefits

You will be part of a friendly and enthusiastic team with monthly volunteer socials and monthly meetings where everyone has a say.

You will help people in the Brighton community to have access to affordable bikes and the ability to repair their own bikes cheaply, increasing access to cycling for all. You will also learn skills about repairing bikes yourself.

You will be encouraging green transport options and making sure old bikes and bike parts aren't wasted, which is great for the environment.

Practical Considerations

The location is easily accessible by public transport. Volunteer hours can be regular or flexible.

Supporting individuals with additional support needs and/or disabilities

We are an inclusive organisation and can discuss any additional needs we can accommodate when you apply

When do I need to be available?

Details We are currently open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 11am to 4pm, but hoping to extend opening hours to some more dates and times depending on volunteer availability. You can volunteer for a regular shift or be a floating volunteer.
