Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of those affected by domestic abuse? RISE is looking for dedicated Helpline Volunteers to provide vital emotional support and practical information to survivors, as well as their families and professionals.
The RISE Helpline is the vital first point of contact Survivors, Professionals and Third Parties have to access advice and services to reduce the impact of domestic abuse via RISE. Helpline volunteers are trained to respond to calls into the helpline by assessing risk, assessing need and offering advice, signposting and supporting referrals to other agencies/services to reduce the risk of domestic abuse and empower women in their recovery journey.
4 hours per week on Monday or Tuesday mornings (9am - 1pm)

Skills
We're looking for volunteers who are:
- Passionate about supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse
- Compassionate and resilient to the experiences of domestic abuse
- Proactive in using support mechanisms available to the role such as formal and informal supervisions, group supervision and Workplace-Chat platform
- Good listeners who want to develop their listening skills even more
- Organised, reliable and comfortable using computers and smartphones
- Ready to commit to one session per week for at least 1 year
- Respectful of confidentiality
- Willing to learn and follow guidance
Main Duties
- Supporting clients to assess their needs and assess any risks which may be present for them.
- Prioritising the risk, needs and safety of clients and their children.
- Offering clients signposting and referring to local and national services.
- Providing clients with safety advice
- Answering calls/emails, arranging appointments, completing initial assessments and update case-files.
