Help us offer a free, in-person drop-in service for people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, or want to get their hearing checked.
RNID Near You volunteers do 6 main activities to help us make life fully inclusive for deaf people and people with hearing loss and tinnitus.
- Maintaining hearing aids
- Meet & Greet
- Helping people check their hearing
- Informing people
- Administration
- Supporting and finding donors.
You don’t have to do all 6 of these activities – you can pick the activities you find most interesting and match your skills and experience.
Benefits

- Help us run this important service for people with hearing loss, deafness and tinnitus

Practical Considerations
We have venues in Brighton, Ferring, Angmering and Rustington. All our venues are decided on accessibility to the public and appropriate to support those with hearing loss.
Support Disabled
Our roles are varied, therefore there is not one specific role and volunteers can choose those that they feel most suitable and accessible to their needs. Many of our volunteers have hearing loss, deafness or tinnitus themselves, therefore awareness and communication support is an important aspect of our work.Skills
You need to be available between Monday - Friday 9am-5pm and flexible to support in at least one session per month (2 - 3 hours).
Enthusiasm and a willingness to be part of the volunteer team and demonstrate RNID values.
You will receive a full induction and training so you feel prepared and confident before your first session. You will also get our volunteer handbook and volunteering policies to refer to.
You’ll be assigned a supervisor who will provide ongoing support and we’ll also introduce you to our community of volunteers.
