Hertford Primary School is seeking individuals with a passion for supporting the children and families in our community to join the school governing board as a co opted governor.

We are a small, friendly community school on the edge of the South Downs, serving the families of Hollingdean and beyond. We are a welcoming and successful school with high expectations for all children and our “We CAN” values – Challenge, Aspire and Nurture – are at the heart of everything we do.

We are keen to ensure our governing body continues to provide excellent strategic leadership and ensure the effective use of resources.

Benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity to support the school leadership team and contribute to the future of education in our community.

You will meet and work with a team of other enthusiastic and dedicated school governors and develop new skills and knowledge related to school governance and strategic decision making.

You will receive plenty of support and training as part of your induction and throughout your time as a governor. If you are interested in joining a dedicated team and making a real difference, we would love to hear from you.

Practical Considerations

The full governing body meets in-person four times a year and governors are also asked to join one of our three committees, each one typically meeting three times a year.

Skills

You do not need to be parent/carer, or have prior experience of school governance, and most current governors fit the role around full time jobs. We are looking for people with the enthusiasm, commitment, flexibility and desire to support children and families.

We are particularly keen to appoint people with experience in one or more of the following areas: leadership, finance, safeguarding, SEND and health and safety to add to the existing range of skills on the board.

We also want to ensure the governing body reflects the diversity of our pupils and the community we serve.
