BUCFP is recruiting volunteers to run our Tea Bar/Café, where we offer teas and coffees to anyone who is at the centre.
Volunteers' main duty is to make refreshments, to keep the tea bar stocked up, clean and tidy. An important part of the role is to be welcoming to new people, explaining what BUCFP does and directing them to the day coordinator or Centre helper if someone needs help or is in distress. Tell people about what goes on here and offer the course brochure if they are new. You will be working either alone or in pairs also running the crisis/emergency food bank and liaising with the Day Coordinator to see who is eligible to receive food parcels.
Skills
As a volunteer you will need:
- To be aware of good hygiene practices.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Be welcoming.
Benefits
Volunteers get their travel expenses reimbursed (up to £5), are provided with training while performing the role and additional training opportunities as they progress if needed and available. It's a great opportunity to socialise, meet our centre users and meet other volunteers.
Volunteers are also entitled to have a free meal and a reference after 3 months of volunteering with BUCFP.
Practical Considerations
Limited parking around the centre and unfortunately no access for wheel chair users (centre accessible only through 2 flights of stairs).
The morning session runs 10am to 1.00pm. The afternoon session runs 1:30pm to 4pm.
