Role Overview
The Treasurer will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of JubyLee Bakes CIO. This position requires a unique blend of financial acumen, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the charity sector, particularly in relation to supporting individuals with learning disabilities. The Treasurer will oversee all financial operations, contribute to strategic planning, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and support the operational needs of the charity.
Skills
We are looking for:
• Proven experience in financial management, preferably within the charity sector. However, we would be happy to consider anyone who has worked / trained within the finance sector.
• Preferably a strong understanding of charity law and financial regulations.
• Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to see the big picture while managing details.
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems, ensuring efficient and effective financial operations.
• Exceptional communication skills, able to convey complex financial information to diverse audiences, fostering understanding and collaboration.
• Commitment to the mission of JubyLee Bakes CIO and a passion for social inclusion, demonstrating empathy and dedication.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team, including individuals with learning disabilities, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment

Practical Considerations
Support and Training:
You will have an induction into JubyLee Bakes CIO and be supported by Colin and Ellen Tomlinson.
You will receive appropriate guidance and training to do the role,
including shadowing others.
What you will be doing:
- Maintain accounting records, financial statements and detailed records for the charity including calculation of period-end adjustments, spending against restricted fund.
- Carry out financial management processes and bank account management - including generation of invoices, chasing payment, reconcile bank/cash/debtors, banking, BACS payments.
- Implement
and maintain appropriate financial software systems, ensuring efficient
financial management - ensuring data security and protection of financial
information and the charity’s assets.
- Prepare
and present financial reports and updates to Trustees for every board meeting.
- Create
a regular cash flow plan to indicate future funding requirements.
- Produce
timely and accurate accounts and the annual report in accordance with the
Charities governance and regulatory standards
- Produce
a file of working papers for the independent examiner and liaise with them
during their review to facilitate a smooth audit process.
- Ensuring
all finance procedures are written, reviewed and maintained
- Make
Gift Aid claims as required, maximising the charity's income from donations
- Ensure
compliance with charity law and regulations, staying up to date with any
changes in legal requirements and best practices
- Contribute
to risk management strategies, identifying potential financial risks and
proposing mitigation measures to protect the charity
- Ensure
the board is aware of its financial responsibilities and accountabilities - provide
guidance on best practices in financial governance and advise on the financial
implications of business decisions
- Coordinating
the administration of trustee meetings including sending reminders, collating
reports, coordinating the agenda, writing minutes and action logs
- Contribute
to the organisation's overall strategy and long-term financial planning,
ensuring financial sustainability
- Help
develop sustainable funding strategies that balance diverse income sources and
minimise financial risks, ensuring the charity's long-term viability.
- Design
sheets for recording ingredients batch labels, timesheets, and any other
documentation required for recording purposes, ensuring accuracy and
compliance.
- Provide
financial guidance for the baking and catering operations and help to develop
pricing strategies for products and services ensuring profitability and
competitiveness.
- Assist
in maintaining positive relationships with suppliers and customers, negotiating
favourable terms and contracts.
There will also be opportunities to assist the charity with:
- Delivering bakes and bank cash as required, ensuring timely and efficient distribution.
- Helping at events, including setting up, packing up, managing floats and card payments, and erecting gazebos for outdoor events, ensuring successful event execution.
