The Hangleton Community Association runs a busy community centre that supports people of all ages in the Hangleton area. We offer activities, events, and services that bring people together and make life better for everyone.

We’re looking for someone to join our Board of Trustees as our Treasurer—a key role that helps us stay financially healthy and strong.

The Treasurer is a trustee with a special focus on money. You don’t need to be an accountant, but you should be comfortable with numbers and happy to help us manage our finances.

As Treasurer, you will:

  •  Help keep track of our income and spending
  •  Work with staff to prepare budgets and reports
  •  Make sure we meet our financial responsibilities
  •  Help other trustees understand our finances so we can make good decisions.

You’ll be supported by our staff team and other trustees—we work together and help each other.

Practical Considerations

  • We require at least 6 meetings a year in person if possible
  • Availability for other meet ups for financial queries, budgeting and funding plans
  • Meetings are held at Hangleton Community Centre
  • There is free parking and bus routes.

Skills

You don’t need to be a finance expert, but it helps if you:

  •  Have experience with accounting basics tracking income, expenses and balances
  • Budgeting and monitoring spending
  • Cash flow management to ensure bills and activities can be funded
  • Understanding restricted funds for grants
  • Handling community funds responsibly
  • Follow proper financial procedures
  • Explaining finances clearly to the trustees and staff who may not have a financial background
  • Helping to prepare annual accounts and statements
  • Helping to plan budgets for activities and funding applications
  • Presenting simple, clear reports at meetings
  • Ensuring proper approvals for spending
  • Accounting tools like quickbooks.
