The successful candidate will join our Board of Trustees who offer strategic guidance, support and governance to our charity.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about affordable mental health services for the community and who can offer skills and experience at a strategic level to help us continue to develop and improve our service. As Treasurer we are looking for someone who can maintain an overview of the charity's financial position, ensuring that it remains sustainable, assisting in preparing the annual budget and monitoring expenditure.

Time commitment would be approximately 8-10 hours per month, including quarterly board meetings and taking forward tasks and projects as agreed.

Skills

Essential attributes include:

  • Passion for our mission and purpose
  • Sharing our values of compassion, inclusion, and the need to challenge stigma associated with mental ill-health
  • Academic and / or vocational experience and qualifications relevant to the responsibilities of the role of trustee
  • Motivated, persevering and keen to make things happen through hands-on action
  • Emotional intelligence to work constructively with others
  • Knowledge or experience of counselling as either a professional or a client
  • Experience in financial management, budgeting and accounting. Professional qualifications in financing or accounting are desirable but not essential.

Additionally, we are looking for one or more of the following:

  • Strategic or operational experience of running an organisation or charity
  • Legal and/ or financial experience of running an organisation or charity
  • -Professional knowledge of the mental health sector or health/ social care sectors.

Practical Considerations

There is disabled access to the building and free onsite parking. Flexible hours between 8-10 hours per month with a quarterly face to face meeting.

Good public transport links. We are a 5 minute walk from Southwick train station and good bus links along the coast.
