The Sussex Area of the Ramblers was formed in 1976 and membership across all age groups now stands at around 3,000. This includes nine Area groups, nine Affiliated groups and a county-wide Young Walkers group.
As well as organising many leader-led walks every week, we work on behalf of all walkers, at both area and group level, to protect the network of public paths, safeguard the beauty of the countryside, campaign for greater access to open country, and provide information and advice on all aspects of walking.
This is an opportunity to play a significant role in the leadership of the organisation, working with the Chair, Executive Committee, Area Council and key contacts at Ramblers' Central Office, across a range of activities.
You will support the Area Chair in the leadership of the Groups, deputise for the Chair as necessary, represent the Area when required at the interface with Ramblers' Central Office, and undertake assigned projects as agreed with the Chair.
