Brighton Early Music Festival (BREMF) is looking to recruit more members to join our friendly team of volunteers.

The main roles undertaken by BREMF volunteers are:

  • Helping to set up for concerts (usually during the afternoon) – preparing venues to meet the needs of the event.
  • Stewarding at concerts, including, where needed, serving on the bar or the ticket desk and helping to restore the venue at the end.
  • Helping with event publicity – taking publicity cards or posters to a regular activity you attend; to local cafes, shops or community centres; or delivering cards door-to-door.
  • Digital marketing - sharing concert information on social media; adding online listings to relevant websites; looking for potential opportunities to spread the word about BREMF in a digital space.

Benefits

BREMF volunteers benefit from being part of a friendly team, learning about how to put on musical events (concerts and workshops), and gain free entry to the events at which they volunteer.

Practical Considerations

BREMF concert venues are in central Brighton & Hove and are all accessible by public transport. See https://www.bremf.org.uk/gettingthere/ for details. We have different volunteering shifts on offer to suit your other commitments; however, many events are in the evening so you would need to be confident travelling home after dark. Almost all venues are wheelchair accessible and we are very happy to discuss volunteers access needs and any necessary adaptations.

Skills

Volunteering for BREMF is a varied opportunity and we hope to be able to offer a volunteering placement to suit your skills and preferences. Volunteers need to be:

  • friendly and approachable with good people skills
  • reliable and committed
  • adaptable and able to take their own initiative
  • passionate about music and events.

When do I need to be available?
