Our Child and Family Support Team (CFST) provides counselling and therapeutic support to children, young people, and their families – including siblings, parents, grandparents, and carers. We’re looking for qualified volunteer counsellors to join our dedicated team to help increase our reach, making sure everyone can receive the support they need in some of life’s toughest moments.

Please note, we cannot accept student counsellors on placement in this role.

Skills

  • This role would be suitable for qualified counsellor with a level 4 diploma (or above), degree or postgraduate diploma course in Counselling or Psychotherapy
  • Be a registered member of a recognised professional body (BACP, NCPS, UKCP)
  • Work in accordance with the BACP ethical framework
  • To be able to respond appropriately to safeguarding issues
  • A professional, positive attitude
  • Evidence of Carl Roger’s core condition within your therapeutic relationships
  • An openness to grow in self-knowledge, especially in the areas of bias, prejudice and difference
  • An ability to build strong therapeutic relationships
  • Mature approach to boundary keeping
  • Evidence of well-developed self-care and coping strategies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An ability to organise, time keep and work to a high standard.
