Unique opportunity for a qualified dispensing pharmacist.

Voices in Exile is a registered charity that works with refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants with no recourse to public funds in Sussex and Surrey.

Many of our clients are hold professional qualifications in their country of origin. They are eager to re-start their careers in the UK in their chosen career.

We are currently seeking a trained dispensing pharmacist to support a client study for their OET exams so they can qualify as a dispensing pharmacist.

This role will involve:

  • Weekly meetings with your mentee, either face to face or online
  • Supporting them to understand their chosen sector in the UK
  • Support to access employment routes
  • Study support
  • Support with job search and job applications.

To volunteer with Voices in Exile you should have an interest in migration issues and a commitment to basic human rights.

Skills

If you are a dispensing pharmacist and have experience of the OET exam and

  • are empathic to the challenges faced by refugees accessing employment
  • have experience of mentoring/ coaching or supporting your colleagues
  • have fluent spoken and written English
  • have up-to-date knowledge of the dispensing pharmaceutical field and requirements
  • are computer literate using Word, Email and Internet.

Practical Considerations

We ask that you are available for a minimum of three months for 1-2 hours per week to cover one-to-one support and any research time. 

Due to the nature of our work, you will: 

  • be primarily office based
  • work within our polices and procedures
  • will need to give permission for an enhanced DBS check.
