Volunteer Facilitator - Men's Cancer Peer Support Group

We are looking for a new facilitator for our Men’s Support Group. The group meet on the 1st Tuesday of every month at The Horizon Centre and provide a zero-pressure, confidential space to talk, share and listen.

The role: Hosting a safe, supportive space for the group monthly, providing a loose structure for conversation, arranging occasional speakers on themes of interest to the group, liaising with the Horizon Centre on booking requirements, supporting new members & enquiries.

The commitment: Average 3 hours monthly, 2 hours for hosting, and 1 hour prep. 

Ideal for: Someone who is passionate about creating a safe and supportive space for men, and who is confident facilitating conversations and taking on a hosting role.

• Good communication and listening skills
• Patient, flexible and reliable
• Ability to respect others’ differences and choices
• Able to recognise when to ask for support
• Able to work independently with guidance and support.

Practical Considerations
