Volunteer Fundraiser– Trusts and Major Donors

Are you interested in getting involved with a local Community Interest Company that supports regional tree planting and environmental projects for schools, colleges and the community in the Sussex region and potentially beyond?

• Do you have either community, major donor, grant or trust fundraising experience?
• Are you well organised, with good research skills, and willing to write applications for grant funding?
• Are you able to offer 1-2 days a week?

Role purpose:

Supporting and developing the awareness of Tree Action in the Sussex region and achieving the aims of raising funds to support the development of tree planting and biodiversity projects for schools and colleges in the region.

We are seeking to grow within Sussex, increasing our involvement in schools and college projects, hiring more hands on directors and volunteer roles and accessing new funding to support our work. 

Responsibilities

• To identify on an on-going basis suitable trusts/foundations that have the potential to make grants preferably on a multi-year funding basis.
• To help manage and nurture the relationships with the trusts and foundations so that they endure in the long term.
• To develop and implement a strategy that seeks to obtain donations through community fundraising and individual giving.

Skills

Preferable Skills:

• Fundraising experience, ideally from Trusts, foundations or grant applications made on behalf of a not for profit organisation.
• Experience of developing external relationships.
• Used to working as part of a team and managing to deadlines.

You need to: 

• Be a team player.
• Have good communication skills.
• Have good attention to detail.
• Be able to write persuasive applications.

Practical Considerations

You can volunteer from home or mix this with using a shared co-working space in Hove. You will need your own IT equipment and access to Wi-Fi.

When do I need to be available?

Details	We are looking for someone to offer one to two days per week which can be broken into half days. Your hours can be agreed to fit around your existing commitments.
