Are you passionate about sports and skilled with tools? Our local wheelchair rugby team is seeking a volunteer mechanic to join our dynamic crew!
We are Brighton Buccanneers Rugby Club, based in Falmer Sports Center, University of Brighton. We enable disabled people to play the sport of wheelchair rugby. We train every week intending to compete in tournaments around the country.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain and repair specialised rugby wheelchairs. This includes the chairs, wheels, tyres etc.
- Perform pre-game equipment checks and on-the-spot fixes.
- Collaborate with players to customise chairs for optimal performance.
Skills
- Basic mechanical skills and willingness to learn.
- Reliability and commitment to game schedules and an enthusiasm for adaptive sports.
- The most common repairs needed are changing wheels, changing tyres and adjusting the chair to make it comfortable for the user.
- No prior experience with wheelchair rugby is required – we'll teach you the specifics!
