Are you a caring adult with a few hours to spare? BBBS is a relatively new charity in the UK (although well established in the USA), and we are looking for caring adult Mentors for children, who, for whatever reason, are unable to live with their birth parents. As a Mentor, you would spend a few hours a month, over a period of a year or more, with a child that is suitably matched. You will spend time together doing simple things, such as riding a bike or picking up conkers. This type of Mentoring programme has been shown to increase wellbeing, confidence and outcomes for the child.
Benefits
It is not only the child and carers who benefit; you will derive as much from the experience as they do!
Practical Considerations
Car driver preferred, but not essential.
Skills
Ability to listen, empathise and build positive relationships; patience; experience with children desirable, but not essential.
