Medical Detection Dogs need Volunteer Speakers to help promote awareness of the charity and raise funds to support and train our dogs. This is often the first time that people will have heard of the charity and so our speaker volunteers are invaluable for helping us spread the word.
Talks will be to local groups, for example, W.I.s, Rotary Clubs, Friendship Clubs and other community groups. Presentation material and equipment provided, travel expenses reimbursed.
Sign up solo or as a pair to practise pre-existing public speaking skills or develop new ones! It is a fun role where you can meet new people, be immersed in local community, whilst also helping spread the word about the charity.
Skills
If you feel confident to speak in front of a group of people or have experience in doing so, this could be the role for you.
Basic IT skills are beneficial for sending emails, filling out forms, and setting up a projector. Training is provided.
Benefits

Opportunity to meet new people.
Build on your existing skills and develop new ones.
The knowledge that you are changing people’s lives and raising awareness for the charity.
Practical Considerations
Local groups request speakers to visit them via our website. Once received, the closest speaker is asked if they are available to take the talk - it is completely up to you whether you would want to take it, based on location and date. They usually give 3 dates, and you are able to pick your preferred one.
The amount of talks that you take on is completely up to you, whether that be 3 talks a year or 20. It is a role that can fit around your current schedule.
When do I need to be available?
