Story mentors do a very important job at Little Green Pig, supporting young people in our workshops to get inspired by writing and get their words on the page. You'll work with small groups of children and young people, mentoring them at workshops to allow them to get the most from a safe, creative space. This is an interactive role where you are working directly with children and young people and making a real difference to people in your local community.

The ability to listen and be patient with children who may be struggling to express themselves. An interest in creativity. Currently, we are specifically looking for volunteers who are free to volunteer in The Laurels Primary, Worthing on Wednesday afternoons and Langney Primary School, Eastbourne on Tuesday afternoons 2.45 - 5pm.

  • A sense of belonging, and pride in your local community.
  • A creative outlet and opportunity to try new things and hear about new techniques.
  • The opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of local children and young people.

Practical Considerations

We also have After School Clubs across Brighton and Eastbourne, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:45pm-5pm. Most of these are accessible via public transport.

We ask that you commit to volunteering at least 6 times over a period of 6 months. Most volunteers attend the same club fairly regularly, others attend as and when their schedule allows, it's entirely up to you.

Travel expenses are reimbursed.
