First Base is looking for volunteers to work in their busy rough sleeper's session. The role assists the general running of this session and provides one-to-one support to help rough sleeper's move on from homelessness.
1.Main Role:
To provide support to clients of First Base and assist with the smooth running of the service.
2.General:
-Assist with the setting up of the rough sleeper's session in the morning.
-Meet and greet new clients, making them aware of the facilities in the building when they first arrive.
-Provide support and signposting advice to clients.
-Undertake some administrative tasks.
-Help with the service of meals.
-Advocate for clients when dealing with other agencies.
-Assist clients to use laundry facilities.
-Assist clients to use computers.
-Help sort donations such as clothing, food and toiletries.
3.Training and Support:
First Base will provide volunteers with a full 'in house' induction and will provide ongoing support and supervision from our experienced casework team.
4. Volunteers will also have access to the BHT Induction Programme:
-Introduction to BHT.
-Managing Difficult and Aggressive Situations.
-Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults.
-Professional Boundaries.
-Equality and Diversity.
There will be no cost to the volunteer.
Skills
We require our volunteers to be empathetic to the needs of people experiencing homelessness and have good listening skills. Volunteers must be flexible and willing to take on a number of tasks essential to the running of this busy service.Benefits
