Volunteer Treasurer

Dance for Parkinson’s Brighton is an Unincorporated Association formed in 2018.  We run two weekly dance classes in Kemptown for people with Parkinson’s and their family member/carer if they want to bring someone. We have been lucky enough to have been awarded National Lottery money on three occasions now and receive some. Private donations too.  This means we are able to offer participants the chance to dance for a reduced fee.  The role is to be a Metrobank signatory for the organisation and issue two cheques every month (the venue and the dance artist) and to do a bank reconciliation at the end of the year.  Our previous treasurer is having to resign as his wife is poorly.

Benefits include:- Helping the Parkinson’s community for anyone who has a relative/friend with Parkinson’s; being able to attend any class and become involved with the community if desired.

Practical Considerations

You would need to be set up as a Metrobank signatory and issue two cheques every month online. Also check deposits from class fees (only £50 for 8 classes!) as they are put in every two months or so from the participants.

Support Disabled

other than an initial visit to Metrobank in Brighton to show ID, the whole role can be done online.

Skills

Bookkeeping experience.  Possible help with financial aspect of writing new grant applications in would be useful too please.

When do I need to be available?

Details	The volunteer should just be available for issuing two cheques every month. The bank reconciliation is obviously flexible when this is done. We have an annual summer AGM where we need to provide this to the rest of the committee.
