The role involves simple financial management and bookkeeping:
    1. Bookkeeping: Maintain clear, up-to-date records of all income and expenditure (using basic spreadsheets and/or Xero).
    2. Financial Management: Oversee and manage the group's bank account, ensuring all payments and deposits are handled correctly.
    3. Reporting: Prepare and present simple, concise financial updates to the committee at agreed intervals (e.g., quarterly).
    4. Compliance: Support the committee in gathering necessary information for our annual accounts’ review/submission.
    5. Budgeting: Assist in planning and monitoring our small operating budget.

We are currently seeking an organised and trustworthy volunteer to take on the crucial role of Treasurer/Bookkeeper for the Committee. This is a perfect opportunity to make a real local impact by ensuring our finances are in excellent order. Our annual turnover for the last financial year was just under £28,000.

You don't need to be a professional accountant! We are looking for someone who is:
    1. Reliable and Trustworthy: Essential for handling the group's funds.
    2. Organised: Capable of keeping clear and accurate records.
    3. Comfortable with Basics: Familiar with using spreadsheets, email, and basic online banking.
    4. Committed to Coldean: A desire to support a local, grassroots cause.

When do I need to be available?

Details 2-4 hours per month. Mostly remote/home-based with occasional local meetings in Coldean, Brighton.
