Volunteer Van Driver

Do you have van driving experience and knowledge of the Sussex area? If so, we are looking for dedicated Van Driver Volunteers to assist us on either a 4 hour or 8 hour shift. This is a physical role working as part of a team.  

Help to support the Emmaus Sussex social enterprise by carrying out deliveries and collections. If you have time to spare - we would love to hear from you. 

Volunteer Duties:

• Daily vehicle checks
• Driving and route planning
• Working with companions and volunteers
• Completing paperwork for collections and deliveries
• Responsible for checking secure loading
• Dropping off stock at warehouse

Emmaus has a unique combination of companions, employees, trustees and volunteers. People from different backgrounds who all work alongside each other towards the same goal - to fight homelessness and inequality.

We support people to work their way out of homelessness, providing a purpose as well as a stable home for as long as someone needs it.

Practical Considerations

• Bus no 1 and 1X stop close by to the Community
• The closest train station is Portslade
• Travel expenses to and from shifts, if required
• Lunch provided alongside the community 12.30 – 1pm (or bring your own)
• This is a physical role.

Support Disabled

Skills

• Van driving experience essential
• Full, clean driving license
• Knowledge of the local area (preferred but not essential)
• Teamwork, customer service and problem-solving skills
• Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a positive attitude.

When do I need to be available?

Details	We are looking for a volunteer that will commit to at least 1 day per week (can be a 4 hour or 8 hour shift) between 9am - 5pm The days will need to fall between Tuesday and Saturday.
